Mrs Trickett's Just The Ticket

MRS TRICKETT put her name up in lights last night. It wasn't a world record, but rather Libby Trickett, nee Lenton, had to settle for a new Commonwealth and Australian record in the 100m butterfly at the Beijing Olympic trials and be satisfied that only one swimmer in the world - the Dutchwoman Inge de Bruin - has swum faster.
Trickett, 23, beat her long-time rival Jessicah Schipper and stopped the clock at 56.81s, just shy of the world record. She wed just 11 months ago, and now wants the world to know she is a married woman."It is a very proud moment to get the Trickett name out there," she said. "It is a good choice, that time is unbelievable." Trickett's husband, Luke, finished sixth in his event, the 100m breaststroke, last night and has not yet qualified for the team. That leaves the power couple tag to the new 400m individual medley world record holder, Stephanie Rice, and her boyfriend, Eamon Sullivan, the current 50m freestyle world record holder. The world record may be threatened in tonight's women's 100m backstroke final. Emily Seebohm, 15, broke the world record in the non-Olympic 50m backstroke on Saturday night and smashed the Commonwealth record for the 100m backstroke in last night's semifinal. Satisfied, she went home early to get as much sleep as possible and missed last night's 50m backstroke final, held later in the evening. So she didn't see Sophie Edington smash her world record, just 24 hours old. Monday Sport - Record breakers
